Industry Standard Configurations

Based on the type of animal you are fencing see the industry standard reference below for a few suggestions.

Adjustments to the number of strands and spacing may be made based on the fence manufacturer recommendations and landowners preference for critical confinement/exclusion fences.

Cattle (Steers, Cows and Calves)
  • Post Spacing - 15 -20ft, max 30ft space for posts
  • Wire Types - Electric wire 6 strands, barbed wire 6 strands
Horses and Foals
  • Post Spacing - 15-20FT , max 30FT space for posts
  • Wire Types - Electric wire 3 strands or non electric wire 6 strands, poly tape 3 strands electric, 6 strands non-electric tape. Barbed wire not suggested

  • Post Spacing - 8-12ft space for post
